Don’t Leave Me, Mate – Sneak Peek
Ava’s POV
“Ava, leave. Go with your mother. They will kill you both.”
My father yelled at me, his eyes filled with fear as he glanced toward the other side of the forest.
“N-No,” I mumbled, tears streaming down my face. I could see him lying on the ground. “Little girl, always take care of your mother,” he said, struggling to sit up. Blood covered his legs.
“Angela, run away with Ava. Don’t waste time,” he told my mother, who was kneeling beside him, crying loudly.
“How can I leave you in this condition, Hector?” she cried out in distress.
We all heard the crunching sounds of footsteps.
We were in the middle of a war, every wolf fighting for survival.
“Leave. I can’t shift to protect you two because of my wounds. At least save our little child,” my father repeated to my mother.
When she saw a pack of wolves approaching us, she stood up, lifted me in her arms, and started running in the opposite direction, carrying me as fast as she could.
As she ran, my mother whispered in my ear, her voice breaking with tears, “Don’t look back.”
My arms were tightly wrapped around her neck in a desperate embrace. Curiosity overwhelmed me, and I dared to glance back at the scene.
I saw two wolves jump onto my father, attacking him. My eyes widened in horror. I was so shocked that I immediately shut them and screamed.
“DAD!”
I opened my eyes and found myself back in my bedroom.
“I was dreaming again,” I muttered, pressing my hand to my forehead.
I sat up, taking deep breaths, my body drenched in sweat.
It wasn’t a nightmare. It was a memory—moments from my past that I would never be able to forget.

My father was killed in a war when I was only five years old. He was a pack fighter, but they attacked his legs before he could shift, leaving him unable to save himself.
My mother had to flee with me from that pack and seek shelter in another.
The Alpha and Luna of this new pack were kind enough to allow us to live among them.
Since then, we have lived in the Mystic Shadow pack.
“AVA, YOU’LL BE LATE!”
I heard my mother’s voice shouting from downstairs.
“YES, MOM. I’M COMING!” I replied loudly so she could hear me.
I rushed to the bathroom, took a quick shower, and got ready to head to university.
I was in my freshman year, and I didn’t want to make a bad impression by being late for my professor.
I stole a glance at myself in the mirror. I was wearing a long, loose-fitting white dress. I tucked my hair into a low ponytail. My big glasses sat on the bridge of my nose, so I pushed them up to my eyes.
My eyesight was perfectly fine, but I preferred wearing large glasses because they helped me hide my emotions and my face behind them. Though the glasses were clear, they masked my feelings.
I never wore makeup because I didn’t want to draw attention to myself. For the same reason, I preferred dressing in simple, long, loose clothing.
People often called me a “nerd” because of my high grades and appearance.
Or maybe I was really a nerd. I chose to take it as a compliment.
This label had led to some bullying during middle school.
I went downstairs and hugged my mother. We had breakfast together. She was the only one in my life. I wanted to study hard and build a future so I could give her a happy life.
“Ava.”
I looked at my mother. “Yes, Mom?”
“You’ll turn eighteen next week. Your mate will find you soon. But before that, I want you to promise me you won’t get involved with anyone else. You know how we ended up in this pack. You’re an omega, and we don’t have a male member in our family to protect you, my dear.”
